Apology Note – part of this walk was intended to be with The Ramblers from both Nottingham and Sheffield, but two walkers started off before the main group eventually met up at Ashford in Water. The Nottingham coach was delayed somewhat at Bakewell as a result of road closures to enable the Bollywood filming to take place.
Thanks to Richard for co-leading walk. He also saw, pointed out and identified animals etc on the walk which were then photographed.

Follow Monsal Trail W to FP at SK.158:730, this descends ~E then goes N to cross The River Wye, just to the West of Litton Mill. Follow road ~W to SK.157:731 (near Field Study Centre), then follow WSW then N up Tideswell Dale to the Car Park / PC SK.154:742.
Follow path (initially under tall trees) ~N to SK.155:746 then W thru small gate & cross road above the Sewage Works, join FP ~N then NNW to walk up back to start in Tideswell.
Note there is a ‘confusion of paths’ in the OAL above tunnels and well above the River Wye - all without direction signs – care is thus required.
If starting this walk from the Litton Tunnel side do not know whether the same ‘starting’ path applies (is the exit path used?)

Party re-united (after the disused Quarry) at SE033:111 (to the North of the Stanedge Tunnels (unseen below).
In OAL we followed informal paths N then ~ENE. Some land along the A62 Road is not OAL but there are two FPs through this land to the A62 road – find and use either - then follow the A62 road ENE to SE039:118. Take minor tarred-road down NW then turn directly down NE. Turn ~E*2 to find ‘tow path’ ~E along (Huddersfield’s Narrow Canal) to Marsden’s railway Station and nearby Car / Coach Park.
Notes
*1 if party had gone NNE along the road at this point for about 300m we may have reached the Southern ' tunnel portals' for the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and Rail Tunnels? While footpaths are usually well marked on the ground unfortunately signs saying 'Footpath' and 'Bridleway' seldom give key destinations.
*2 access closer to the Northern entrance of the canal tunnel, café etc is possible.
If you are interested in The Huddersfield Narrow Canal suggest you also look at my solo walk 2018.08.22

Note - There are two sets of stepping stones in the river, some tricky paths, some flat paths & ones to be scrambled, some with polished limestone, slippery especially when wet under foot, and other rough paths – consider taking The Monsal Trail (flat surface) if the party is in-experienced - a safer and quicker option.
We followed the B6049 to Millers Dale, but after a row of cottages to our left at Sk142:734 took the less used minor road Meadow Lane passing Meadow Farm back to Tideswell.
