2022.08.28 - Start SK.216:874, Lay By & Bus Stop on A57 Road, ~250m ~W down road to & across Cutthroat Bridge, ~N for 150m then ~1,5km W on BW thru Derwent Moors to junct. of paths at SK.198:874 (to North of Lead Hill), N then NE passing Hurkling Stones, at FP to Grouse Butts turn N (slightly West) on Derwent Edge to Wheel Stones, continue on Edge ~NW past White Tor turning N to pass Salt Cellar Boulder (only seen when looking back), continue to Dove Stone Boulder then Cakes of Bread, ~N crossing Bradford Gate Head (top of Foulstone Road), on towards Trig Beacon / Back Tor. Tea Break. (One of party returned to start as previously planned)
Rest of party go slightly to E then down from Back Tor NE then NNE (much on paved paths) to follow Cartledge Stones Ridge to SK.207:927, ~W thru moorland to join FP at SK203:927, follow FP along top of Abbey Brook ~WSW then S to cross Bents Clough at SK.201:923, then ~W along and down to Sheepfold Clough at SK.197:923, ~NNW then WNW (above Abbey Brook) turning WSW then S to cross Cogmans Clough at SK.185:922, continue on FP ~W but short of Abbey Tip Plantation cutting corner in OAL & turning S to Abbey Bank, ~SE on FP to pass (ruins of) Bamford House then ~SSE to SK.182:902 (W of Hillbrook Plantation), then ~S along ruins of Dry Stone Wall to SK183:896, ~SE / S thru Briery Side (& U-turning at end) down to road on edge of Ladybower Reservoir, E then SSE on Reser Rd to BW at SK.187:884 – where party splits:
a) Photographer continues on Reser Rd to Ashopton Viaduct (A57 rd), then follows road ~E to PH (the recently closed Ladybower Inn) to ‘catch bus’
b) rest of party start E up BW and continue up ‘Eastward’ to SK.198:884, then ~80m S on BW then turnoff SE on FP up to Derwent Edge at SK203:880, ~E along FP near Grouse Butts then after ~1.1km ~SSW thru OAL near Highlow Clough back to Cutthroat Bridge
