2022.09.04 (the 9.15am train from
Sheffield to Hope was cancelled at short notice, a bus leaving earlier but
arriving later at Hope was taken, and the walk route amended. Start at
Bus Stop near Hope Stn SK.178:832, ~700m along road WNW to Hope
Church, then turn-off N then NNW down Edale Rd to short of
Townhead Bridge, turning ~NW down Lose Hill Lane (not named on
map) then ~N past Hotel , Oaker Farm & Norman Farm
turning WNW to Fiddle Clough, then ~NE down F. Clough,
under the Rail Track to Edale, ~NE over Edale Rd then ~N
across Bagshaw Bridge (over River Noe), ~N past Upper
Fullwood Farm, & continuing on FP up ~NNE / then ~N / then ~NNW to BW at
SK.159:875, ~NE on BW for ~200m & at junction turn off ~NNW on Roman Road
for 300m into OAL (tea break), then ~W on informal paths winding up
to Kinder Southern Edge at SK.144:882, U-turn ~NNE for ~200m to
Kinder Northern Edge, path ~W (for about +2.5km) thru Crookstone
Knoll (winding initially) ~W along Blackden Edge then turning
~WNW to SK117:882, U-turn ~S for ’10 min’ crossing to Kinder
Southern Edge, ~E passing Nether Tor then ~S starting at
Golden Clough (took lunch break near top), but diverting ~S to The
Nab, turn ~NW for 150m then U-turn down ~S to gate at ~SK123:865
(leaving OAL), ~S to cross FB over Grinds Brook (just above
G B Booth), ~S on road past PH / Edale Church / PH / Edale
Stn / PC & Parking to ‘Edale Rd’ at SK.124:853, ~100m SSW
on road, then turn off S to Hardenclough Farm (stopping for ‘tea and
ice creams’ now available there), continue 200m ~S, cross Harden Brook,
ESE then ~S to short of Greenlands, turn ~E on BW up to
Hollins Cross, ~ESE on paths down thru OAL then SE down to & along
Hollowford Rd to Castleton, ~E on Castleton Rd for a
short distance to Bus Terminus / PC. 2 of party (incl. photographer)
caught bus here to Sheffield.
Balance of party possibly went on
Castleton Rd Eastward and turned off at SK154:831 onto FP ~E passing
Peakhole Water and crossing (Cement Plant) Railway track spur at
SK.166:831 continuing to Road & ~N into Hope, then ESE
along road back to Bus stop & cars parked near
Hope Station.
