2022.11.09 Wednesday -Start at Oughtibridge – Bus Stop (in small park) on A6102 Rd (on one way road system to N) at SK.307:934, short distance ~S to Church Street & along it ~W for ~50m, FP ~N to join Sensical Park path thru woods (parallel to Church Street on its north side), re-join Church Street & follow it ~SSW for ~70m turning off onto road starting to W (but later turning up to Coldwell), but at SK.300:931 leave road & join FP ~W roughly following Coumes Brook, FP gradually turns up NW towards Lumb Bush, then after climbing up steep steps turn off at ~ SK.288:934 ~W on FP to join at SK.284:933 Onesmoor Bottom Rd, follow this road ~NW for ~360m to rd junction, and go ~W on Onesacre Rd for ~100m, & turn off on FP SSW thru Brittains Plantation for 600m to SK.277:930, then turn ~WSW to cross Delf Rd at SK.274:929, continue ~WSW down to and across Brown House Lane at SK.267:926 and continue short distance to High Bradfield Church pass it ~W (on its North-side) and continuing thru graveyard and then fields to SK.265:926 (where side diversion was taken ~NNE and back to Bailey Hill*1),~N then WNW to cross Rocher Edge Brook at SK.265:929, ~SW (well above the brook) down to join road on edge of Agden Reservoir at SK.263:927, follow road ~S / SSE passing the embankment and continue just past large house & turning off down at SK.263:923 ~SSW crossing spillway stream over two FBs to reach PC at SK.263:921, ~S down East side of Cricket Ground to road junction at SK.264:918, follow road WSW a short distance and take FP & FB at SK.264:918 to South to cross river and join path ~SW on the South – Side of Damflask Reservoir, (lunch break taken at SK.272:912 on the edge of the reservoir), past Oaks Farm FP turns ~S then SE crossing Ughill Brook which joins reservoir. Leave reservoir and cross road at SK.277:905 (and starting towards Dungworth) take FP up ESE, cross road, then S to join road at SK.278:903 and follow it SSE, turn off E at School, then ESE on road past Dungworth, at bend in road at SK.284:899 turn off ENE in line of a stream to cross a FB at SK.288:902 (over a spillway stream from Damflask Reservoir) to the edge of a Fishing Pond, follow path ~E then ~ESE passing thru derelict Industrial Buildings in the rough line of The River Loxley. At SK.292:901 turn NNE along a ‘tarred lane’ passing the decaying Claremont House up to Loxley Rd at SK.293:904, ~130m ~ESE along road then take FP ~NNE (passing Loxley House) to cross Myers Lane at SK.298:911& then continuing to Stubbing Lane and passing Low Ash Farm (buildings) and at SK.300:916 turning ~ NE thru fields to touch Worrall & ~N to cross Kirk Edge Road at SK.304:920, then N (slightly East) thru playing fields, across Towngate Rd, Wallshaw Rd, Boggard Lane & Haggstone Lane at SK.306:927, NNE & E thru Birks Wood then ENE thru housing to the A6102 Rd at ~SK310:930, ~NNW walking along either ‘one way’ branches back to start.
Leader Lynn Oxlade – 17 in party – about 10.5 miles long. *1 some missed this excursion to Bailey Hill as 'farmer' closed gates on FP to keep sheep inside field and tail end of party had to climb over awkward stile and fell behind rest of party.
