• 2021.12.29  Due to very strong winds (after heavy rain) some changes to planned route were made during walk to avoid being blown over. Both these weather conditions together with a fairly  fast walking pace, also made photographing impossible.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Start at Oughtibridge (Millenium Garden) SK307.934, ~N on A6102 then turn off ~WNW on Cockshutts Lane then into Storth Lane then ~W into Glen Howe Park, FPs ~W to pass thru Benteholme Farm (houses) and continuing along Farm Rd to leave it at SK286.943 and continuing to reach & cross Brighthomelee Rd at SK283.944, take Hob Lane ~NW then WSW below Spout House and turn WNW to gate at SK275.947, before gate turn ~SSW thru OAL joining FP down to Onesmoor Bottom (Rd), ~N on road (past turnoff to Bolsterstone Rd) then W & NNW to gate (~200m South of Swan Cttotage), ~WNW on boundary of OAL to cross at SK267.945 into White Lee Moor (a plantation in OAL), follow boundary ~SSW then WNW and turn thru woods to cross Penistone Rd at SK260.942, WSW then S down to gate at SK258.936 into Rocher Woods. ~SE thru woods continuing just to upper bank of  Rocher End Brook, follow bank ~170m S and descend bank and cross R.E.Brook, follow path ~ESE for 100m then ~S for 300m, circuit around Bailey Hill (NE & back), then ~E to High Bradfield Church (lunch break). WSW past PH then along Loxley Road, at bend at ~ SK272.922 branch off up lane then ~S to short of  Cliffe House Farm, V- turn NNE on track then turn NE on FP to Kirk Rdge Rd, follow rd for ~400m then take FP - N along boundary of Convent for ~1.2km to cross Onesmoor Bottom Rd at SK284.933, FP ~E into Lumb Bush. then ~E to Coumes Vale Plantation, at SK292.932 follow FP along wall ~N to Lumb Lane, ~60m E on Lane then NW / N on Acre Lane, skew cross Raynor Silke Lane thru Foldrings, ~N / NE into Glen Howe Park, retrace route taken from Oughtibridge. Leader John Taylor - Wednesday - 9 on walk - about 10 miles
• 2021.12.22 Baslow Nether End SK258.721 ~W along the A619 rd to circle then SW along A619 rd across The River Derwent and continue to SK252.722 and cross A619 Rd and follow minor rd ~N (parallel to D. River) thru Baslow West End, before bridge (NW of Church) over R Derwent, at SK251.723 take FP ~W later joining and following Wheatfield Lane ~W but turning NW on School Lane, turn off at SK232.723on FP ~N (above / east side of woods) continuing thru Bank Wood and turning NE thru Bramley Plantation to Bramley Lane, follow B. Lane ~NW to cross Hassop Rd at ~SK236.736, follow track ~W (turning gradually South) to Longstone Edge junction of Footpaths at SK208.730, and V-turn ~SE to Rowland (then ~E on short length of Rd in Rowland), take FP ~SE to join Lane at SK218.722, ~E along Lane into Hassop (near church), ~S down B6001 Rd to Home Farm taking path SSE which joins BW winding ~ESE to the A619 Rd at ~SK234.714, ~70m W along rd joining BW ~E but then take FP shortcut SSE towards turnoff to Pilsley, but continue past turnoff on FP ~S joining Handley Lane passing Paddocks Plantation and turning WSW, At SK236.697 V turn E on rough vehicle track downhill which later turns ENE thru Edensor, cross B6012 Rd and follow FP ~E then NE over bridge over River Derwent (just before Chatsworth House), after bridge turn N to St Mary's Bower, follow D.V.H.Way ~N (NNE then WNW at end) back to start at Baslow Nether End - leader Liz Savage - Wednesday - 18 people on walk- just under 12 miles.
• 2021.12.15 Totley - start corner of A621 & Totley Hall Lane (SK306.798), follow T.Hall Lane (part of Sheffield Country Walk) for ~0.5km and turn off on FP ~S to enter Gillfield Wood, ~E  for ~100m and then cross FB over stream at SK310.780, ~S towards Old Hall and Fanshaw Gate Lane, follow F.G.Lane WSW / W / S toward West side of Lydgate and cross B6054 Rd, ~SSW on FP towards Horseley Gate Hall (FP blocked above Hall) and local diversion found to Horseleygate Lane, ~E on Lane for 200m to SK307.769, take FP ~SSW down to Horseleygate Road and cross it at SK306.766, continue ~SW then follow tributary of Millthorpe Brook westward to join Car Road at SK298.766, ~W along Car Rd for 200m, then ~S on BW (below Hewetts Bank) for ~1.5km, at SK294.750 turn off E into Shillito Wood (and Car Park Area), ~S then SW thru wood to road junct at SK293.748, follow road ~W to SK288.746 and enter Ramsley 'Reservoir' area, ~W on the south side of Reser then turn N toward Ramsley Lodge at SK284.750, ~W down to the A621 Rd and cross it, (do not follow the track) but go on path(s) thru moorland  ~NNW (East side of Stone Circle) to ~SK277.760 and change direction NNE down to track, follow track along Bar Brook to the East corner of the breeched Bar Brook Reservoir at SK282.771, follow rough path ~NNE to cross the B6054 Road at SK285.778, follow track ~N (to east of Flask Edge and then West of Brown Edge)  up to Moss 'Road', follow M.Rd  for ~200m to SK291.797 and turn off NNE / ENE / then E (well above Hollen House), Road turns ~S then E (roughly above Rail Tunnel) towards & past The Cricket Inn (not marked on map) at SK330.800 join cobbled Chapel Lane roughly E for about 250m then road ~S for ~200m to Start.- leader Simon Gray - Wednesday - 21 on walk - about 10.5 miles
• 2021.12.08 CHRISTMAS DINNER WALK, Redmires Road Bus Terminus SK286.862, ~150m ~W on road, ~N on FP (on East side of  Allen Sikes Farm), FP curves ~Westward to SE corner of Lower Rivelin Dam SK277.866, follow ~W south side of dam and then ~WNW along Wyming Brook Drive to U-turn East at Reddicar Clough for ~180 m to Reddicar Hollow SK266.871, and take FP ~W then ~WNW thru Wyming Brook Nature Reserve, at SK262.873 path splits - continue for ~350m on path on Head Stone Bank ~W toward (but short of) Headstones to N/S FP at SK258.873, turn ~S for ~600m to the Conduit SK256.868, follow conduit ~ESE then SSW to Redmires Road at SK260.858 (also at NE corner of the Upper Redmires Reservoir), follow R.Road for ~450m to SK265.857 and take FP ~SE thru Redmires Plantation  to SK267.856 and follow ~E below the lowest Reservoir Embankment, to corner of Roads SK271.856, take Soughley Lane ~N  for 150m and join Redmires Conduit ~NE then turning ~E and follow ~60m past the un-named Plantation  and turn N on a FP through the Playing Fields towards a PH, ~150m W on R.Road to 'Three Merry Lads' - for meal.- Leader Judy Gathercole - ~6 miles thru very wet rainy weather, - 17 on walk (with many others joining meal).
• 2021.12.05 Hope Railway Station SK181.833, westward along A6187 to Hope Village, PC & to FP at SK168.835 - N for ~200m then ~ENE to SK171.838, then ~WNW to Losehill Farm, then ~NNW up to Lose Hill - Wards Place, (some including photographer) stop short at SK155.850 & went ~W on flat route to Brockett Booth Plantation, party re-unites at ~SK145.849 and follow Barker Bank FP thenBW westward to Hollins Cross, BUT turn ~SW downward on FP towards Rords, then ~S to pass (on West side) of Mam Farm, continue ~S along Land-slid  road joining intact road (passing on West side of Blue John Cavern), at road bend at SK129.832 join & follow path then Bridleway Westward (just below the Rushup Edge Ridge) into OAL at SK115.834, ~SW down thru OAL to 'stile' on road at SK110.829, follow road Westward for ~600m to ~ SK104.827 and take FP ~SSW then ESE to the West side of Rushup Edge Farm (Bldgs), then take FP ~S to pass on East side of Bull Pit (a deep unused mine with vertical sides) to road and cross it  but follow Eastward between road and pond to join Bridleway at SK114.816, and follow eastward on the North Edge of Eldon Hill Quarries (disused) and beyond to the junction with the Limestone Way at SK135.813, ~NE on Limestone Way for ~ 450m* and follow it through Cave Dale to Castleton. (note at * point a parallel FP can be taken past Cow Low to Peak Cavern & Castleton - this route is very steep in parts and zig zags but less hazardous than thru Cave Dale in wet & icy conditions). From Castleton  - walk continued back to Hope Station (for cars & train - along roads as it was dark?). Photographer took bus back to Sheffield - free only with pass). • 2021.12.01** Retford Railway Station, along Cuckoo Canal to Worksop Railway Station. Two on walk - about 11miles done in a fast 4.5 hours - 2.45 miles per hour. GPS trace and line of canal on OS map coincide very closely.
• 2021.11.24 Wharncliffe Side, Road A6102 (SK299.944 Bus Stop), WSW thru Green Lane then Damasel Lane (walkers only) to Glen Howe Parking Area, ~NNW ~800m on Storth Lane to Brighthomelee Lane, ~200m on B. Lane ~W to first turn off (before 'propped barn', ~NW then ~WNW to More Hall Reservoir, on South side of M.H.Reser. Westward passing Broomhead Reser. Embkt. by ~150m & turn off up ~SSW to cross New Road (not shown on all maps) at SK266.955, continue SSW then S up to Walkers Edge SK265.951, ~350m ~W along It, turn off on FP ~S then SSW to (SK299.944) the edge of White Lee Moor (now a Pine Plantation), FP turns S to cross Penistone Road at SK260.942 & over ladder stile, FP in OAL curves ~S to SK260.937, descend steeply W for ~150m to access gate at ~SK258.936, ~ESE then SW on path ~600m long thru Rocher Woods, then U- turn down steps at SK263.933, after Steps ~S to join FP ~SW thru Bowsen & continuing to cross 'covered' Rocher End Brook at SK265.929, then on FP ~ESE / SSW / E to High Bradfield Church, ~E from Church joining and following Shieffield Country Walk Eastward past Cliffe Head Farm / New Lathes / Holdworth on road to stile / FP at SK288.915, after ~100m turn off S.C.Walk ~N thru Spitewinter Farm to road at SK290.920, ~200m E on Rd then N on another road to reach and skew cross Burnt Hill Lane, FP ~N to near  Coumes Farm buildings, but take FP to W for ~150m to join access track then FP ~N / NNW thru Coumes Vale (with new rebuilt 'farm house'), then FP ~NNE thru Coumes Vale Plantation to path junction at SK292.932, FP ~NNE to Lumb Lane, ~50m E on path then skew NW then N down Acre Lane, Before road to West skew NNW on road thru / to Folderings, then follow FP ~NNW turning ~NNE to enter Glen Howe at SK292.941, NNE then E back to Storth Lane, then thru parking area & lanes to A6102 Road and bus stop - leader Anne Vickers - about 10miles -18 on walk
• 2021.11.21 Snake Inn* (no longer an Inn) SK112.905, NW (on South Edge road) for ~300m, ~W down into Pine woods to join Snake Path, ~NW passing top of Woodlands Valley to cross FB over stream, then ~W below Saukin Ridge & on rough path Westward thru Black Ashop Moor passing thru Ashop Clough / River Ashop then turning SW toward Ashop Head and then ~SSW to junction of paths at SK064.901 (Pennine Way and William Clough), continue Southward down on William Clough to Kinder Reservoir, follow west edge of reservoir to continue SSW thru Marepiece Wood to join Kinder Road (above Kinder River) and continuing Southward, near car park / toilets at SK049.869 cross bridge over river & U turn ~NNE follow minor road turning gradually around unseen reservoir to continue SSE to SK053.863 (fork in road), take the right hand fork Pennine Bridleway steeply upward South and bending near top W past Higher Heys Farm,  at SK050.854 Pennine B W turns ~SSE for ~400m then turns ~SE below Mount Famine, where P.B.W bends E (towards South Head), take FP at SK056.846 ~SSW passing Andrews Farm and crossing Hayfield Road at SK051834 ~SW then W then SSW thru Alders Farm, turn ~SW to cross under railtrack at SK044.827, then on roads S / W / S / W / N to Chinley Station - Leader Richard Bennett - Sunday - 11 on walk ~11miles. *(Note we reached Snake Inn on Hulleys X57 bus, but apparently this service unfortunately is to be suspended making such linear walks difficult)
• 2021.11.17** Hope Railway Station SK181.833, ~WSW down access rd to B6187 Rd & WNW along it, just at church / village, at SK172.835 take rd Rd to Edale N then NNW, at rd junct SK168.845 (well before Townhead Bridge) take minor rd NW for ~180m & take FP ~N (on West side of The River Noe) to Normans Farm, turn ~S to cross River then U turn onto Edale Rd under bridge to go ~N, leave rd at FP at SK167.857 on East side and follow River Noe (now on its East side) to (but not across) Bagshaw Bridge, take Road ~N to Upper Fulwood Farm, continue on FP ~N past F. Farm then NNW to & across FB (SK159.872) over stream then ~W thru Backside Wood to Jaggers Clough SK154.873, cross stream and go NE up to Roman Rd at SK160.876, follow R Road ~ NNW, over Blackley Clough & NW below Blackley Hey to  SK147.890, V turn to East, (well before Rowlee Bridge over River Ashop), & continue E along canal turning ~ESE and crossing Blackley Clough and passing ~SE past (not across) Haggwater Bridge, follow path (on south side) along Ashop River then Ladybower Reservoir to the Reservoir Embankment SK198.855, follow D.V.H.Way S past Parkin Clough to take FP at SK197.848 skewing off S (but slightly East) up to path junction at SK195.840, take path ~SW to road & ~70m along it to FP ~S then W to cross road at Ryecroft, continue W for ~300m then take FP ~S to FB over tracks at Hope Station. Leader Andrew Irwin - Wednesday - 8 in party -13miles.
• 2021.11.14 Hathersage Station SK234.810, NNW to B6001Rd & V-turn SSE along it under rail bridge, turn off East near Sewage Works on Derwent Valley Heritage Way (DVHW) , follow River Derwent Southward 5km to and across Frogatt Bridge, leave DVHW ~W from Bridge  up to and across B6521 Rd, continue ~W on FP up to New Rd (bend), FP up NW then ~W past Riley Graves into Eyam, continue ~W past Church, turning ~N past Eyam Hall  up to PCs (toilets), continue ~N up rd turning to ~E for 500m & turn off on FP ~NW on steps skirting woods up to and ~N  across road at SK217.772, continue ~N to cross Sir William Hill Rd at SK218.779, FP ~N (slightly W) for ~600m, cut ~W thru Gotherage Plantation, and turn ~S to junction at SK213.783 with Jubilee Plantation, ~NNW / W / NE / W the N (slightly East) above Bretton Brook to Stoke Ford SK211.795, follow Highlow Brook ~E (on an informal track thru Hill Wood on it's North side) for ~ 900m to SK220.797 and take FP ~N up to West side of Highlow Hall, up to Abney Rd, but turn ~NE for ~40m, take track NW then NNE to Callow Farm, ~E down to then thru Callow Woods, continue on paved track ~ESE for ~250m to SK227.806 then turn off ~E to emerge below River Derwent to Leadmill Bridge, ~N  across Bridge the follow FP ~NNW to East of Nether Hall, take access road ~E back to Hathersage Station - walk Sunday, leader Andrew Irwin, 15 on walk, just over 12 miles.
• 2021.11.10 Middlewood Tram / Park & Ride SK326.910, NW along A6102 Rd, pavement then along River Don, cross FB over River at SK317.921, Follow River then turn ~N thru Beeley Woods to cross Rail Track at SK317.925, ~N (slightly W) to cross Oughtibridge Lane at SK314.934, ~60m W on Ou.Lane, then NNE on concrete rd thru Works, past Tattooist, to junct at SK315.937 of Trans Pennine Trail & Barnsley Boundary Walk, follow T.P. Trail ~NW for ~600m then turn ~N to join & follow small track WNW under Electric Transmission Towers, but where line kinks return to the T.P.Trail at SK303.944, ~N on TPTrail to SK946.302 in Todwick Wood, turn SW over road bridge over railway track and go ~100m past it, V-turn ~N thru OAL skirting River Don, then follow 'track' N then NNW to cross Steel Bridge over River Don at SK299.955, follow Ewden Beck ~W to the A6102 Rd and follow it ~S for ~400m, take track ENE /W / SSW to SK292.951 on Brightholmlee Lane, 80m ~SE on this paved rd, & turn off of on track Storth Lane ~SSE down to road, & follow rd ~W to Glen Howe Tower, ~S thru Glen Howe leaving park at SK294.942 on FP ~E then ~SSE up to rd Owler Gate and ~160m ~W along it & V-turn into Delf Hill (woods), ~E then ~S to leave woods at SK297.938, ~E thru field to Horse Croft Lane and ~SE then WSW - just past bend SK at 299.938 take FP ~S thru fields to roads (~100m to E of Ones Acre), ~S down Jackey Lane & Coldwell Hill, BUT on reaching Wheel Lane turn away to W then S to cross FB over Coumes Brook at SK298.930, ~S to Gate Farm & across Burnt Hill Rd at SK298.925, ~ESE up skew track then ~S on track and FP (well to West of School) to Kirk Edge Rd at SK300.920, ~80m to W on this Rd  then take Darwent Lane ~S (passing both Low Ash Farm and Stubbing Lane ), continue ~SSW for ~120m then take FP ~SE then E to cross Long Lane at SK305.910, Rd & FP to E in Wadsley Common (passing the south side of Hillsborough Golf Course) to reach Parking Area at SK319.909, cross Rural Lane to Worrall Rd.* ~NE thru housing estate then ~E past (apparently derelict) church back to start point. * (an alternative is to go SE on Worrall Rd and down Langsett Avenue back to start. Leader Angela Coles - Wednesday - 15 on walk - 10 to 11 miles. A walk in startling Autumn colours.
• 2021.11.03  Revised - This Walk is from 'The Sheffield Greenway' a 110 mile route around Sheffield - by Rob Haslam. Malcolm Dixon is leading it in 11 stages - this is his 7th stage. Start of this stage   - Ecclesfield - Black Bull PH (cnr Church Street / St Mary's Lane), FP off St. M Lane ~ENE to The Common, then Eastward (on it's South Edge) to join Minster Road then to join & go ~S on The Common Rd for ~150m to (SK361.937), take FP ~E / SSE / E to join The Sheffield Country Walk at SK364.936, ~ENE to cross the B6082 Rd at SK366.937 & follow brook eastward to re-cross the B6082 rd at SK374.935, ~SE thru Woolley Wood to the Childrens' Play Ground and then 'touch' the B6082 Rd, but go ~S on Dara Street then WSW on Fife Str, ~SSE on Merton Road to Vauxhall Rd, ~W on this Rd to the 'Educational Authority', ~S / WSW / S / W thru Open Land in Wincobank to Jenk Rd & follow ~W for short distance to 'Column Monuments' at SK380.913, turn ~SE thru Wincobank Wood turning ~E toward Corby Lane then follow NE on Wincobank Lane, short dist N to join & follow Beacon Way ~ENE to SK380.907 and cross ENE over open land to join & follow Stupton Rd before Jenkin Rd (see circular map on ground of 'stars'), follow Jenkin Rd ~SE crossing the B6082 Rd to Meadowhall Rd, cross to the East side of the River Don and follow ~NNE on vehicle free track along it passing weir & fish lift, cross River Don on FB at SK391.911, short distance NE on Meadowhall Rd then turn NW crossing above Railway lines and turning into the Station Parking Area, on its East side follow track N then rd (to West of Hotel) continuing North on track to join & follow Blackburn Rd, pass New Rd, continue to SK388.924 & cross Concrete FP ~E over the M1 Motorway, continue ~East past The Hill Top Hotel, continue ~E then NE in open land to West Hill Rd then N thru Poucher Street, continue N thru open land turning East to cross North over Little Common Lane, continue N then WNW to cross Droppingwell (a road) at SK394.398, turn SSW then West to Walkworth Wood, at SK383.937 ~N / ENE / N past Brick Kiln Plantation, ~ENE to golf course access road & East along it to the A629 Road and bus stop for the '135' bus at SK393.944 to Sheffield via Chapeltown (or diagonally across road to Rotherham). - Walk done on Wednesday - leader Malcom Dixon - 12 on walk. Note - a complex walk difficult to describe route - without a marked up map showing route - many (informal) paths / roads are not marked on OS 1in 25.000 Map. A 1 in 10.000 map was used in part to describe route.
• 2021.10.27 Revised - Tideswell (start / end) bus stop & PC at SK151.756, ~N on Queens Str into High Str, turn ~W below Manchester Rd, informal path ~W past Communal Orchard, at SK148.760 join road W  then WNW to Wheston, continue past Boston Farm and at appr SK127.766 find FP ~WNW leading to top bank edge of Hay Dale, at SK121.770 cross stile and descend gradually to bottom of Hay Dale, U turn at SK121.770 and follow Dale ~SE then ~S to skew across road and at SK123.765 enter Peter Dale and follow ~SSE to road (& Monks Dale not taken), follow Pennine Bridleway ~S up, then W (above Wormhill village) to skew cross road at SK123.743  and pass thru Old Hall Farm, continue ~W on Pennine Bridleway to road at SK111.746, turn ~S for ~240m and leave Pennine Bridleway on FP ~ESE to Hassop Farm and road to Wormhill, turn ESE on road and then almost immediately take FP ~S down to Chee Dale Nature Reserve, skew ESE down to the River Wye, follow river ~ESE passing under Viaduct (previously for railway now the Monsal Trail), continuing along the River to the B6049 Rd at SK138.732, ~ENE along the Rd under two railway viaducts to the small Millers Dale Church, take lower road alongside River past, Ravenstor at SK157.731 (below the Field Study Centre (unseen) at SK157.731 V turn up Tideswell Dale then follow Northward to the Parking Area / PC, follow the road B6049 northward on a path keeping on its East side but cross the road at the junction SK155.748 (Tideswell / Liton Dale) and follow the road ~NNW back to Tideswell. • 2021.10.06 - Bakewell - corner A6 & B5055 Rds, SW up Kings Street to Church Str. / Church Alley - FP thru Church leaving to W continuing to cross Stanedge Rd at SK209.686, continue to Crowhill Lane at SK203.686, follow kinky CH.Lane ~S to reach & cross (slightly to East) road at SK204.683, continue on FP ~SSE to meet & cross the B5055 at SK206.678 continuing ~SSE on FP to a junct of FPs at SK208.676, and continue ~SE to another junct of FPs at SK211.673, take FP ~WSW to join B5055 Rd at SK287.669, follow Rd ~S into Over Haddon turning ~W to Parking / Toilets (on rd below the B5055), Rd down ~S then winding to cross the River Lathkill at SK203.661, ~E then V turn W up steep slopes, then SSW to Meadow Place Grange, ~S thru M.P.Grange, continuing ~SSE along dry-stone wall up to & skew to W across Back Lane (a tarred rd), continue on FP ~SSE then SE down to Moor Lane, follow rd S then E past the Youth Hostel, Public Hse to turn down rd ~SE at the  Church to reach & cross River Bradford at SK215.641, follow River on it's East side until before road (Alport Lane) at SK220645, cross rd & follow River Lathkill (on it's West side) ~WNW then NNW up to Raper Lodge, NE on Lane over the River Lathkill then E turning NW steeply up the dales bank to SK215.653, ~ENE passing barn & joining BW continuing to Haddon Barn & across Haddon Rd (A6) at SK233.662, ~250m NW along H.Road, then FP ~N crossing the River Wye (& then following the river generally some distance from it) to SK229.676, The ~NNW on FP back to Bakewell crossing River Wye  at SK220.685 - Leader Linda Cooley - Wednesday (17 on walk)

• 2021.09.15** Solo walk on Wednesday - by train to Lincoln, - North mainly up 'pedestrian only streets to Cathedral Quarter, then West thru &  East around the North side of the Castle (did not pay to see inside buildings & exhibits). Saw outside views of Cathedral, & paid to see inside Cathedral (taking photos permitted). Followed 'Viking Way' (unmarked on ground) to East on South Side of Cathedral then SE down Pottergate, then E along Lindum Terrace to and East thru Arboretum.Continued East below Hospital then thru Houses and then Industrial Estate. East along rail track to cross on unprotected crossing at TF004.714 Continued along track to new major 'ring road' to East of Lincoln (many new path gates but routes as yet unmarked). Left Viking Way & joined cycle track ~S then ~SSW on edge of 'new' major 'ring road'. |At TF003.707 U-turned N to join cycle & walking  track, ~West along River Witham back to Lincoln. Unfortunately River Witham on much of length screened from view by trees - but later good long distance views of Cathedral.

• 2021.06.30 Bakewell - start cnr Matlock / Kings Streets, ~100m WSW on Kings Street then first turn ~S on Butts Rd / Path up to Cemetery, SSE on Rd past Cemetery then path ~SSW /SW / S to Shutts Lane (short of Noton Barn Farm, W / WSW on Rd  to stile at SK212.665, FP WSW then W to and thru Over Haddon to PC, Road winding ~S down to Lathkill Dale, ~W on path which turns ~SSW for about 250m, tea break over arched wooden bridge at ruined mine cottage, return ~ continue ~W along River to junction of FPs at SK184.638, take FP ~N (Mill Farm direction) but in OAL after ~180m slow 'U turn' up the gulley West Bank to SK183.659, follow upper edge of Lathkill Dale with many direction changes Westward to rejoin bottom of dale at SK162.661, continue ~WNW to road, follow road ~W toward Monyash but at Church we turned ~S thru its grounds and then took FP (Icky Pioky Lane) ~W to Monyash's Pond for lunch, returned down I.P.Lane, turned S & joined Limestone Way ~SE then ~ESE to & thru One Ash Grange Farm, continued ~E & crossed Cales Dale at SK173.673 climbing very steep step section & continuing ~ESE on the L S Way up to & past Calling Low, to a road at SK193.645, (left LS Way) & followed Back Lane ~ENE to take FP at SK198.648 ~NNE to ~ thru Meadow Place Grange, zig zagged on Vehicle track ~E / N down to River Lathkill Ford, crossed FB & continued along river ~ESE then ~ SSE and exited on road at ~SK212.657, zig-zagged up road for short distance and took FP ~NNE to join road South of Noton Barn Farm then passed North of it and retracting our original route back to Bakewell. • 2021.04.21 Grindleford Station (SK250.788), Stn access rd ~SSW to join & follow B6251 Rd, just before Nether Padley Farm cross road & follow path (S-SE- SSW-S) thru Padley Woods to join Moorlands Lane (SK246.766), follow it SSW to join Hollowgate (Rd), & follow it ~S to cross Froggatt Bridge (over River Derwent), continue ~W to Stoke Toll House & cross B6001 Rd at (SK240.760), ~W up to New Rd but then take track SSW down (past ponds) then W- S-SW thru Stoney Middleton to cross Rd A623 at The Moon Inn, ~W up lane for 200m & take FP ~S then curving to W to join path at SK229.748 at bottom of Coombs Dale, follow path ~WSW then SSW to SK223.743 & then find & join narrow path climbing ~SSW up Coombes Dale's Southern Bank) At top of path / bank at SK 219739 leave FP and after crossing barbed wire fence follow in OAL the top of C.Dale bank westward to Black Harry Gate, take Bridleway ~S to SK207.740, then turn ~W then NW (past drying up industrial ponds) to access road and follow it WNW to road at SK193745, but then directly take FP ~N passing (on West side of Castlegate Rarm) to Housley House, follow the edge of the A623 Rd* ~NE then around a bend to join FP starting at ~SK198.782 - *( note the A623 road & its edges are dangerous but no other public through route  exists for seeing  the disused Furness quarries). Follow FP eastward (but North past Dunlow Farm) then continuing ~E to  toward Eyam Hall, Continue ~E past the Church, thru Eyam centre on to ~200m  past Rileys Graves  and then turn ~ SE on a rough track down to New Rd (bend). Take the same outgoing route ~E (in opposite direction) to cross Froggatt Bridge, Follow DVHWay ~ N to the B6251 Rd (near Road Bridge over River Derwent), Follow Road (then access road) back to Grindleford Station. • 2021.03.19** Start at Parking Area Redmires ReserSK257.857, FP ~N to join Conduit at SK256.857, follow Conduit ~~WNW then ~SW to small Reser SK258.864, ~SW (on South side of Reser) and cross stream, continue ~SW up to Oaking Clough Plantation, follow drystone wall ~WSW then then track to reach top of Stanage Edge at~SK250.852 (~250m ESE of the High Neb Trig Beacon), on Edge go ~E for a short distance then descend on rough paths to the Sheffield Country Path & follow ~NE, well before Crow Chin we cut ~W thru a pathless, soggy, Bamford Moor towards Bamford Edge then ~S to Great Tor, follow B.Edge ~SE down to New Rd at SK215.840, follow N.Road ~ Eastward to SK220.840 and follow FP on edge of Plantation ~SE then E then N to join Rd ~N past the west side of Dennis Knoll, at Cattle Grid continue N on  Long Causeway bending ~E to & then ESE along Stanage Edge for a short distance, leave Edge & continue ~E to Stanage Pole, ~ENE down to Redmires Reser and follow car back to Parking. • 2021.03.03** Refer to 'yellow' photographed map. Start on SE Bank of The River Don at Hadfields Weir next to Meadowhall Centre and South of the the Railway / Tram / Bus Interchange, Generally the The Five Weirs Route is Sign Posted and follows the River Don (where possible), One section was closed making a detour necessary to rejoin the route. Some way after passing the fifth weir -Walk Mill Weir- we crossed under the old Railway Line (to Manchester - still goes to Stocksbridge) which runs parallel to the A61 road, and then found our way to the Sheffield-Tinsley canal terminus Victoria Basin at SK361.877. We followed the canal back to Tinsley Tram stop SK396.910 then followed the River Don ~NW / W / SW back to the start. Effectively Stuart led the walk using a tablet with GPS positioning capacity pinpointing our positions.

• 2021.02.22** The object of this walk was to see the NUMEROUS DRINKING TROUGHS* REMAINING FROM THE PRE MOTOR CAR ERA. Start Loxley Rd / Hanson Rd (nr Admiral Rodney PH) - FP at SK306899 - around Cemetery~SSW then ~E, continue ~E past Mills to SK310 895, ~S across FBs over tailrace & River Loxley, ~SE steeply up to High Matlock / Robin Hood PH (now housing), ~W along FP & join & follow Greaves Lane ~SSW to Stannington Rd (SK303887), follow Stan. Rd ~W &  for safety cross ~W above Spout Lane then take steps ~N down to join Spout Lane ~NNW to bend in rd (SK298890), FP ~W then NNW over Storrs Brook FB to Storrs Lane (SK296892), ~W then N on Storrs Lane, to SK293893 & turn ~E past Old Dairy then N then W back to rejoin Storrs Lane at SK289895, ~100m N to join Storrs Carr (rd) & ~100m ~W on it, take FP ~N for ~500m to FB over Sykes House Brook, ~SW along S.H.Brook to join Dungworth Green (rd) at SK284899, follow D Green (rd) ~WNW past School to join Main Rd ~NNW for ~200m, but take FP ~N downward, cross road, & continue ~SW across Ricketts Bank down to New Road & Damflask Reservoir at SK277905, follow Reserv / New Rd to drinking trough at SK273917, continue along Damf. reser to Low Bradfield, thru Cricket Grounds past Toilets to SK263921, turn NNW up road on East side of Agden Reser and follow to SK262925, ~ENE steeply up then ~E to pass High Bradfield Church, ~S down Brown House Lane & turn ~E toward Kirk Edge Rd, but at SK270924 take Ladder Stile on Sheffield Country Walk (divert up Castle Hill for views), follow SCW past Cliffe House Farm, on to Holdworth but we left SCW taking Myers Lane, Long Lane & Loxley Rd back to start (at Admiral Rodney) - Leader Susan Rushworth - 2 people on walk - Covid restrictions - Monday *Note - the Drinking Trough actual positions are not described in the walk description - but where possible a note is added to the Trough Photographs.

NNW upward, at buildings turn ~W for 150m then U turn behind buildings to rd junct., take Mid Hope Cliffe Rd ~NNW to Langsett Reser. Embt., return on same rd to FP at SE216.000, follow FP ~NE down to The Porter or Little River Don, did not cross but turned ~SE for ~700m & joined Midhope Hall Lane (passing M.H.Reser spillway then Midhope Hall Farm) & then turning ~NE and ~E  to join Mortimer Rd, ~140m ~N on M.Rd & join track ~ESE (on South of Underbank Reser) for 1.6km back to the Embkt / spillway bridge / parking area.- 2 people on Walk - Sunday
• 2021.02.07**Cnr Studfield Hill & Loxley Rd SK314.898, ~200m up Stud.Hill, ~N in 'open space' (just to East of Normandale), ~40m up Rodney Hill, then NNW/NW to Trig Beacon at SK310.907, continue on access rd ~NW to cross Long Lane at SK305.910, follow track ~W then |WNW to SK299.913, ~N towards Low Ash Farm, but before it turn ~W on track along Ash Common, At ~SK296.916 turn off South for ~40m then continue ~W to Woods, in Woods turn ~N passing Spitewinter Farm to meet Kirk Edge Rd at SK290.920, follow K.Edge Rd ~W past the Convent & continue to FP sign at SK280.922, follow FP ~SW then Track ~SSW towards Cliffe House Farm, turn ~E between large new Barn and C.Hse.Farm, continue ~E to rd junct at SK286916, follow rd ~100 ~SE thru Holdworth, then take roads SSW / S / SW / SSE passing Holdworth House Farm to meet Loxley Rd at SK287.908, follow Lox.Rd ~ESE ~200m, turn SSW down track (on West side of Stacey Bank, at River (overflow from Damflask Reser) follow path ~SSE to (West side of Fishing Pond) to SK288.902, follow River Loxley  (on its North side) ~ESE along the pond edge (across from) Old Wheel Farm, continue following the River past the Bowling Green toward Rowel Bridge, join road to North of bridge and take track along River towards Olive House & Cemetery (both on North side of the River - Do not take paths on  South side of the River), follow path to SK313.897 and take FP ~N up to intersection of Loxley Rd / Studfield Hill (the start of walk) - leader Susan Rushworth - 2 people on walk - Sunday.
