2021.12.05 Hope Railway Station SK181.833, westward along A6187 to Hope Village, PC & to FP at SK168.835 - N for ~200m then ~ENE to SK171.838, then ~WNW to Losehill Farm, then ~NNW up to Lose Hill - Wards Place, (some including photographer) stop short at SK155.850 & went ~W on flat route to Brockett Booth Plantation, party re-unites at ~SK145.849 and follow Barker Bank FP thenBW westward to Hollins Cross, BUT turn ~SW downward on FP towards Rords, then ~S to pass (on West side) of Mam Farm, continue ~S along Land-slid  road joining intact road (passing on West side of Blue John Cavern), at road bend at SK129.832 join & follow path then Bridleway Westward (just below the Rushup Edge Ridge) into OAL at SK115.834, ~SW down thru OAL to 'stile' on road at SK110.829, follow road Westward for ~600m to ~ SK104.827 and take FP ~SSW then ESE to the West side of Rushup Edge Farm (Bldgs), then take FP ~S to pass on East side of Bull Pit (a deep unused mine with vertical sides) to road and cross it  but follow Eastward between road and pond to join Bridleway at SK114.816, and follow eastward on the North Edge of Eldon Hill Quarries (disused) and beyond to the junction with the Limestone Way at SK135.813, ~NE on Limestone Way for ~ 450m* and follow it through Cave Dale to Castleton. (note at * point a parallel FP can be taken past Cow Low to Peak Cavern & Castleton - this route is very steep in parts and zig zags but less hazardous than thru Cave Dale in wet & icy conditions). From Castleton  - walk continued back to Hope Station (for cars & train - along roads as it was dark?). Photographer took bus back to Sheffield - free only with pass). Leader Andrew Irwin, 12 0n walk - length dependant on what route taken by each person but about 12miles.

13 Our later route in Castleton is down Cave Dale - part is in the groove at the top to the right. We walk down right to left in the groove to the clump of trees cascading down into the shallow V groove - Peveril Castle is just visible above this groove. The exit from Cave Dale into Castleton is in the wooded groove to the left (East of the Castle). The groove to the right (West of the Castle) is Peak Cavern.
14 The party here is taking the flatter route towards Brockett Booth Plantation below / SE of Back Tor. Some of the party climbed up in the strong cold wind to Lose Hill - Wards Place and descended to Back Tor roughly marked by the tree on the horizon left of centre
