2023.03.15 Stannington - Uppergate Road - Library - ~E to Stannington Rd & follow it ~NW then W past & above Spout Lane to SK.300:887, steps / path down N onto tarred Spout Lane, follow it down ~NNW (passing water troughs) to bend at SK.298:890, FP ~W then NNW over Storrs Brook (old mill tail race) to Storrs Lane & ~W then NNW up it, turn W to trough at SK.292:893, turnabout ~50m and take FP thru Storrs Hall Buildings then ~N but turning ~W to join Storrs Carr Rd below Storrs at SK.289:895, ~100m N then ~100m W along and then take FP ~N for ~400m to FP junct. at SK.287:901 and turn on FP ~SW to rejoin Storrs Carr Rd at SK.284:890, ~WNW on road thru Dungworth passing school to Main Road and follow it NNW for ~200m and take FP ~N crossing road and turning SW down Ricketts Bank to road following West Edge of Damflask Reservoir ~N then ENE to trough at ~ SK.273:910 (on South side of road), return to and along Reser. Edge to 'bridge' over entry stream into Reser at its West end SK.264:918, follow road ~W seeing trough, continue N passing Low Bradfield Cricket Field to PCs, short distance NNW to spillway stream, then NNE steeply up to road running ('Northwards' on the edge of Agden Reser for about 300m to a Trough at SK.263:926, turnabout for ~100m then take FP upward ENE for ~300m then then ~ESE to High Bradfield Church at SK.267:925 (lunch break), leave church to NE to Brown House Lane and immediately see Troughs, follow B H Lane ~S but turn ~E and before road turns N take Ladder Stile at SK.270:925 joining and following Sheffield Country Walk ~SE then S towards Cliffe House Farm, pass ~E (just to the South of the 'new barn'), then below New Lathes then above Holdworth Hall to road at SK.285:916, ~S passing entrance to H. Hall then further down to & taking Dalroyd Lane ~W for ~70m then turning ~S on FP down thru Low Holdworth to Loxley Road at SK.284:908, ~W along Loxley Rd for ~200m to see Troughs, then continue ~W for ~100m to join Damflask Reservoir perimeter path but turning Eastward and then up again to Loxley Rd following it ESE past the Reserv embankment, past Stacey Bank to the turnoff to Claremont House (a scheduled break off point taken by some) and about 100m further East along Loxley Rd turning up NNE on FP (to the East of Loxley House), crossing Myers Lane and continuing about 160m then going ~E along the boundary of O.A.L to cross Long Lane at SK.305:910, (some broke off near here) ~ 100m ESE along BW to where it splits - main group continued ~SSE for ~450m then ~W for about 140m ~towards Garland Farm then SSE (France Rd at end) then ESE (on Occupation Lane) to join Rodney Hill Road at SK.310:900 and WSW down it to Loxley Road and Troughs at SK.307:899, about 30m to West take FP ~SSW to bottom of Cemetery then E to join FP following The River Loxley to SK.310:895, ~S to cross The River Loxley on FBs, then turn ESE steeply up to High Matlock, follow FP (part road) on edge between Houses & Woods ~WSW to SK.307:891, then follow Greaves Road SSW / WSW / SSW to join Stannington Road at SK.303:887, turn SE then W on Uppergate Road to the Library our start point.
Leader - Susan Rushworth - 16 started - some broke off at scheduled points - length of full walk about 18km /11miles - some strenuous climbs. Positions of water Troughs (mainly for animals) only given at sharp changes of direction.
