2023.03.08 - Eyam - in front of Eyam Hall
SK.216:765, SW for ~160m thru Hall's Parking Area & then on minor road, then
follow FP sign S for Cucklet Church (not shown on Map),
turn S for ~ 200m down to this Rock Formation at SK.215:762 and
view it, continue S for ~250m on the West edge of The Delf, then
turn ~W on FP for about 300m along the top edge of Middleton
Dale, join FP 'S' then 'SW' down to the A623 Road at SK.211:
758, tea break taken, continue ~W on Edge of road for ~60m and cross road
to join tarred access road up (~SSE turning SW) for 880m
to Cavendish Mill, at Mill take FP ~SSE for ~500m to where
path splits, take FP ~ESE for ~260m to join at SK.210:747 Black Harry
Lane, but only follow B.H.Lane~ESE for ~ 260m, then turn off on FP
~SSE then S down to and across the FP in Rough Side
at SK.210:742, continue up S for ~160m up to join Bridleway at
SK.210:740, follow ~ESE then SSE to SK.218:736 the East End of
High Rake, follow the South edge of H Rake ~400m Westward and
take BW ~S for ~300m to SK.215:732, follow 'vehicle track' for about 1km
curving SW / W / NW in OAL in Longstone Edge to SK.206:732,
cross W over an access road (at its 'U-bend') continuing W some distance
below Quarry (disused?), continue to Longstone Moor OAL ~ENE on
Watersaw Rake then ~W across to B6465 Road / Gate at SK.183:732, ~60m
N on Road, then W down (new-ish) Concession Footpath for ~300m to
cross ~NNW at SK.180:733 over Service Road (going to Hay Dale), NNE thru
OAL then WNW along boundary / wall to SK.177:735, NNW on flat thru
Cressbrook Dale Nature Reserve to SK.774:741then NNE on flat to pass
access FP(s) (to East to Wardlow), NNW / WNW to the
bottom of Cressbrook Dale, then passed bottom of
Tansley Dale & turn N then E (passing below Peter's Stone),
then ~ENE up to join the A623 Road, about 80m E past
joining road B6465 turn N into Wardlow Mires (Farm),
then on FP brieflyW then NNW up to Stanley House, BW NNE
then NE to SK.182:764 then FP ENE for ~1km into Foolow / Public
House (The Bulls Head), 200m on Rd beyond PH, turn SW on FP*1
for ~80m then path about 2.2km ~E back to Eyam Hall for tea (*1 no
photographs taken after PH as time was tight to catch bus after taking tea at
Hall)
Leader Liz Savage - 16 on walk - distance about 17.5km /
11miles - snow in second half of walk made downhill walking slightly slower but
made pictures more interesting in part.
