Train from Johannesburg to Cape Town - 5th and 6th March
2009
The train taken was a 'Premiere Classe' train, a cheaper
alternative to the famous Blue Train. Compartments are usually booked by
singles, couples or families. Very good meals, included in the ticket price, are
provided. Passengers cars, if pre - booked, can be taken on the train. The
journey is scheduled to take about 36 hours but unforeseen delays extended this
about 4hours.
We took this mainly for nostalgic reasons - we had in our
youth over 50 years earlier travelled this route before the arrival of air
travel.
Pictures were largely taken from the moving train through the
glass windows - a real 'point and shoot' experience with some strange results.
