2023.02.15 Wednesday - start Baslow Nether End SK.259:722, NW across A619 rd at pedestrian lights & along Eaton Hill (Rd) then turn ~N to start of Bar Rd SK.256:725, ~NNE up 'tarred Road' (but 'a track' after houses) to quarry at SK.262:736 (for tea break), U-turn down for ~30m and take FP ~ENE along boundary fence for ~500m then turn down ~SE for ~350m to cross stone FB - a packhorse bridge over Bar Brook (below a concrete access road bridge to a house above), ~S to cross A621 Rd at SK.268:733, continue ~SSE (gradually climbing up to Gardom's Edge South End  and U turning NNW at SK.272:726 to Three Men (originally a late Neolithic barrow, later reformed in 18th century to  commemorate three shepherds who died in the snow), follow boundary wall in OAL ~NE for ~120m then N for about 200m passing various features - a Neolithic wall / bank enclosing a large area south-west to Gardom's Edge and an earthfast boulder with various 'cup and ring' marks, dating from the the later Neolithic or early Bronze Age - the design is open to question - reader - imagine your own story ). At SK.273:730 head ~E to below & short of Trig Beacon and turn ~SSE below Birchen Edge continuing to Robin Hood Farm, follow B6050 Rd then A619 Rd past Robin Hood PH, to SK.278:721 and cross ~S over road, very steeply down steps ~SE to cross FB  over Heathy Lee Brook below, continue ~W for ~1km and cross Stile (just to South of Jumble Coppice), turn SSE along boundary up to Dobb Edge turning SSW towards The Hunting Tower, but then continuing S passing The Tower. About 600m South of the Tower we stopped briefly to view to the West the Sowter Stone, Aqueduct, and The Cascade and Chatsworth House seen from above. We continued ~S for about 900m turning ~E then then SSE over a Ladder Stile at SK.270:591, on path ~SE thru OAL past Rabbit Warren and later turning E for 400m to cross a Ladder Stile at SK.284:684, ~SSE / E to cross stream / then SSW for 250m / ~N for 80m then W all thru Hell Bank Plantation then ~WSW following Beeley Brook and joining road which turns ~WNW to pass Beeley Church and then across the B6012 Road, ~NNW for 900m on path then cross Road Bridge over The River Derwent to West bank and then Northward along it for about 1.8km to cross road / access bridge at SK.257:702, continue N (now on East Bank) 1.9km (NNE at end thru Park Side) the thru gate and WNW back to start.

Leader - Simon Gray - 17 on walk - distance 19.6km (~12.5 miles) - walk from ~10.30am to 4.30pm - 6 hours - average about 2miles per hour including breaks.
