2023.01.18 Wednesday - Start Penistone Station SE.251:033,
WNW on Trans Peninne Trail (TPT), trail crosses above Sheffield Road & continues
westward passing Penistone Church (which is well to South of TPT),
at start of Recreation Grounds & PH turn off TPT ~WSW and
join FP at SE.241:033 towards Cross Royd Head, cross Cross Lane
at SE.299:029 and continue on Hill Side Lane to Bank House Farm
and turn off ~SSW to Bingley Plantation then to Hartcliff Brow,
circle to West around Hartcliff Hill and join Hartcliffe Rd at
SE.220:017 (part of Penistone Boundary Walk), ~400m W to Mary Knoll,
turn off NNE for 650m (passing Air Shaft) then turn NNW past Ecklands,
turn NE over Ecklands Bridge (above the TPT), take
narrow lane ~E down to the TPT, turn about and follow TPT
westwards, Do not cross TPT Bridge over Manchester Rd, but go down to
Man. Rd turn N under & just past the TPT bridge and take
Bullhouse Lane to W to Bullhouse Hall and Chapel
(Chapel closed), (Visited area and River Don to West of Hall
then returned). At SE.212:027 took path to N crossing River Don and
passing Bullhouse Mill and continuing to the B6106 Rd at
SE.212:033, cross road and go ~100m to E and turn N up to Rough Brow then
E to SE.218:035, & turn NNE up to Royd Lane, NW up Royd Lane for
~60m to Little Royd Farm then ~E up Slant Gate to High Bank
Road & WNW then NW up to Royd Moor Hill (& Look Out Point with
360deg map of area), ~E along Royd Moor Road then turning ESE past
Westfield Farms into Thurlstone and turning S to Manchester Road
at SE.234:035, E / ESE / ENE on Man. Rd to SE.236:035, SE on path up
to TPT SE.237:033, Eastward along TPT (passing on north side
of Recreation Ground) back to start at Penistone Station.
