2022.10.09 - 65 bus from Sheffield to Buxton, via Tideswell then in / out of Litton onto B6049 Road, bus stop SK.153:742 (on way down to Millersdale) near Parking / PC in Tideswell Dale, ~S down Dale (not Road) then ~E to join access road to Litton Mill along River Wye, but cross River ~S before Litton Mill at SK.159:730, then U-turn ~W up to the Monsal Trail and follow trail further to W to climb steps on the left before a ‘brick arch bridge over the Trail’, SSW on FP steeply upward, then level, then down to bottom of High Dale at SK.152:720,(*1), SE down High Dale for about 500m, take bridleway ~S up bank for ~300m then turn ~W to cross the A6 Road at SK154:713 and join the access road WSW then W thru Taddington, just beyond the (unseen) Taddington Church cross road and take FP at SK.141:711 (*2) ~W crossing Slipperflow Lane and continuing Westward, but to the South of Trig Point & Reservoir near Sough Top, then after crossing Sough Lane continue below Fivewells Farms to cross Pillwell Lane at SK.121:705, continue down passing above Chelmorton Church, but then turn SSW down Lane, then E into Church grounds – had lunch break there. Leave church grounds SSW down Lane, then turn directly ESE on another road for ~100m (passing church cottages), the road then turns SSE to join Flagg Lane at SK.118:697, continue ~E on Flagg Lane for ~250m then take FP ~SE for about a 1Km to cross Pasture Lane at SK.128:690, continues SE on FP to join Main Road at SK.137:684, continue ~E on Road to Townsend Farm, take right fork road for less than 100m then take FP ~E, & cross further road & pass dis-used shafts, bend ENE at end to join Flagg Lane again at SK.157:685, continue E (slightly S) on Flagg Lane to road junction of Johnsons Lane and un-named lane at SK.165:683. Take ‘un-named lane’ ~SE for ~150m then FP ~E to Magpie Mine (tea-break), just past Chimney at SK.173:682 take path ~N for 150m & join path/track (curving well below Sheldon) & then at end ~NNE to join road (to East of Sheldon) at SK.180:689, follow road ~E for about 160m (where it bends S) but, then take FP ~E down to cross over Kirk Dale Road and onto minor road for a very short distance, climb up FP to ~E (along Dirtlow Plantations) and follow FP past Dirtlow Farm, then go steeply down E to join road below at SK.190:687, follow road to Lower Crowden Farm, leave road but continue E on FP crossing Crowhill Lane, then a ‘mini valley’ (South of Sand Pit) and then cross Stanedge Road at SK.209:686, continue ~E bending ESE to follow road ~E below Bakewell’s All Saints Church to the A6 Road and buses at Rutland Square (618 to Sheffield taken by us)

Walk about 13+ miles – led by Liz Savage – 7 on walk

Possible alternative - (*1) instead of following High Dale ~SE, one may cross Dale at this point and go SW on FP to Taddington joining route as described at *2
