2017.05.21 - Matlock - Hall Leys Park, ~ SE to St Gile's Church, ~ ESE up to Riber Castle, E then S to Dethick, Lea, Wakebridge, Dukes Quarries, N at Cromford Canal, High Peak Junction *, up old rail track incline, FP to Moorside, ~ N through Cromford, skirt quarry on E side & then ~ WSW to Town End Farm, Bonsall, pick up Limestone Way ~ N then NE into Matlock - leader Andrew Irwin - Sunday (* photographer broke off here )

Manor Farm - also now a B&B - It was once the home of Anthony Babington, executed for his ill-fated plot to rescue Mary Queen of Scots and put her on the throne of England after assassinating Elizabeth I. The plot also resulted in Mary's execution.

We turned past this barn near Lea. (Leas most notable family is the Nightingales - Florence Nightingale stayed at Lea Hurst during the 1880s, nursed her mother and rendered charitable work in the nearby areas)
